In the 19th century stonemasons found a stalactite cave on the outskirts of Monsummano Terme, in which there is a small lake fed by warm thermal water. This grotto, which is also known there as the “eighth wonder of the world”, is now the center of a modern spa hotel, which offers wellness, therapies and beauty treatments as well as the right ambience for weddings, conferences or other events. In addition to the grotto, there is also a modern outdoor pool with a water temperature of around 34 degrees.
With the grotto, this location is definitely one of the most special thermal spas in Tuscany. Near the A11 motorway (direction Florence) it is easy to reach. Although the spa is part of a hotel, you can spend the day there without having to book an overnight stay. It is recommended to pre-book the day at the spa. This usually includes support, prices start at around 50 euros.
